Central Texas Pastel Society announces our fall workshop with Denver artist Bruce Gomez. The workshop will be a plein air workshop November 4, 5 and 6 at Berry Springs Park and Preserve and Garey Park. These are two beautiful venues in lovely Georgetown, Texas (or in the Georgetown Library if there is a shower). Bruce will share how he prepares a surface for painting (hint: he uses 140-pound cold press watercolor paper and creates a surface that produces an airy, almost a dreamy mood for his paintings) and goes on to create beautiful paintings.
If you have never plein air painted before this is your opportunity as Bruce makes this a comfortable transition to becoming a plein air painter. If you do plein air already, here is your opportunity to widen your plein air techniques.
This is open to only 10 participants, as Bruce wants to maximize his time with each participant. It is open to members only until October 10 when it will open to the public. The fee is $400.
On day one, as part of meeting and greeting, we will be providing blankets for a picnic. Bring your lunch and use the opportunity to quick-sketch some picnic studies to paint. You may create a wonderful picnic painting such as The Picnic (Monet), Luncheon on the Ground (also Monet), or James Tissot’s Le Partie Carree.
